Aim of Course

Before deciding on the purchase of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency improvements, our courses will provide information on the pro and cons of these technologies and methodologies. Intended for those considering building a new home or simply upgrading their existing home or small business.

The aim of this course is to introduce learners to a range of renewable energy systems. It will be of particular interest to those wishing to install a renewable energy system in their home or business

·         Introduction to Building Energy Rating (B E R)
·         The benefits of Heating Controls (timed & temperature controlled heating zones)
·         Energy efficient Lighting
·         The benefits of Infrared Thermography and Air Tightness Testing
·         Heat Recovery Systems
·         Solar  Thermal Systems & Photovoltaic (PV) Systems
·         Heat Pumps - Ground Source, Air Source and Water Source
·         Biomass Heating Systems - Stoves and Boilers
·         Micro CHP
·         Rainwater Harvesting
·         Large and Small Scale Wind Power Systems
·         Sustainable Transport –Biodiesel, Bioethanol & Hydrogen

Renewable Energy Technologies

1 day course offering an introduction to Renewable Technologies
 
Learners who successfully complete this course will:
 
·         Develop knowledge in energy system terminology
·         Develop an appreciation of sustainability issues (Environmental; social, economic etc.)
·         Develop basic knowledge of solar energy source and characteristics
·         Develop basic knowledge of wind energy source and characteristics
·         Develop basic knowledge of hydro energy source and characteristics
·         Develop basic knowledge of biomass energy source and characteristics
·         Develop basic knowledge of energy efficient building design and it’s principles

The course is of benefit to anyone:
Wishing to learn more about renewable energy and it’s technologies.
Intending to improve or build in an efficient and sustainable manner.
With a general interested in the building technologies of the future.
